A Note From the Artist
In my life, I have always been moved to learn, and to create. It’s an endless cycle of motion that has brought me to opportunities I could have never predicted, and yet formed the foundation of who I am today.
Growing up, I knew I wanted to pursue a life of passion, and I searched for a calling I could dedicate myself to. I studied the arts; drama, dance, piano, violin, even opera. I learned craft; glassblowing, silversmithing, and sewing. I searched for immersive experiences; rock and ice climbing in the peaks of Alberta, training kungfu in the temples of China’s Wudang Mountains, and even wilderness survival in the deserts of Utah.
With each experience, I fortified my confidence in the ideals of practice, patience, exploration, study, and determination. When I finally found the spark I was looking for, the kindling had already been set to light a fire.
Education
An impulsive desire led me to General Welding School Ltd. in Toronto. Later, I found blacksmithing, fabrication, and casting at Kootenay School for the Arts, in Nelson BC. From there I moved to Washington DC to complete a year-long intensive with renowned, endlessly inspirational, sculptural metal artist Zachary Oxman.
My education has ranged from the technical to the philosophical. It has been generously given to me on a winding path of masters, mentors, and teachers. As I continue to climb, I know that each step could not have been made without the one before, and, that my journey has only just begun.
